Provenance: Skinner Auctions, Boston, MA, 2009; Private Collection; Pook and Pook, Pennsylvania, 2014.
A rare signed and identified portrait by Henry Walton. The three-quarter view of Cornelius wearing a dark green jacket and trousers with a black vest, seated in a bamboo turned Windsor armchair in front of a plain background is quite unique. Most of Walton’s works were thought to be created between 1825-1840.
